Intellectual Discourse

I've found it's not very productive to engage in intellectual debate with people on Philosophy (whether religious, political, etc). This is a landing page for discussion on why I don't, and maybe how to navigate an IO-saturated world.

A lot of my background from this derives from having spent eight years doing psychological operations in the Army, spending time reading classical philosophy, having to rediscover (and defend to myself) my faith, and actively working to develop rhetorical and critical thinking skills.

The general layout

Intellectual discourse should generally follow the basic rule that, so long as you start with the same priors, your conclusions should be the same. Discourse is the art of figuriing where your priors mismatch, and understanding where those priors come from. You can recursively apply the discourse process here to continue down the line. It may come down to different worldview axioms, but you should understand that. You should also be prepared for incomplete or incorrect priors informing your worldview: of course, you the rational being has built your worldview on the best information you think you have at the time (unless you are a Hologram), so you may have to edit or refine your thinking.

Topics

These are mostly in the order that I either thought about writing them (e.g., I was originally motivated to described Headline Worldviews), or in which I needed to import them to support another idea.
