Against DEI
I think that DEI is one of the great poisons of our time. Due for a longer writeup as I've been asked about this multiple times, this is a placeholder summary of key points.
Diversity
Diversity is an attribute, not a value. It is neither good nor bad, it just is. Consider diversity of desired outcomes: a group of people who all want to do something different will likely accomplish little of note.
Equity
Equity is a false god. People are not inherently equal. I couldn't step onto the ice and outplay an NHL player due to a combination of experience and innate talent. No one is guaranteed anything in this life; equity seems to be used as a form of entitlement to drag everyone else down to the level of the lowest.
Inclusion
Nothing should be inclusive. While anyone is welcome to the Mass, only those in good grace should receive the Eucharist. I don't mind helping to mentor new people in tech, but they don't get to tell me how to build or run a system with no production experience. If you're not aligned with my values, I'm even less inclined to work with you for the simple reason you will likely end up working against me.
