Social Justice Is Dumb
"Religions have a tendency to identify everything good with God, so when a religious person hears an atheist say they don’t believe in God, the religious person has a tendency to hear that to mean they don’t believe in Good. Social Justice followers react the same way. When someone questions their equity driven approach to “equality,” that’s “hate speech.”" (Handwaving Freakoutery, Social Justice Is a Crowdsourced Religion)
To be clear, when I say social justice, I mostly mean the social justice movement1. It is a parody of itself, and generally the result of people who contribute nothing to the world seething with impotent rage and trying to tear down everyone else. It inordinately wastes time and attention on made-up issues, and obscures the real issues behind games of euphemisms and politics.
The Catholic Church works to perform acts of charity for those in need (c.f., Rerum Novarum, the Encyclical of Pope Leo XIII on capital and labor). However, it must be an act of charity, and not a forced action. Charity, by itself, does not make one good, especially when it is used as a form of making oneself look good. Charity must be an outpouring of the Grace we're shown, and is part of the transformation of our hearts.
