Ideological Identities

An ideological identity is a cognitive hazard in which your identity, your sense of self, is tied to the ideologies that you hold. The hazardous part enters when you aren't engaged in a regular sense of Critical Thinking, and find yourself in a Filter Bubble. The worst case scenario is an identitarian Hologram.

Avoiding this requires several behaviors:

• A system of Critical Thinking: otherwise, your identity becomes tied to other people's identities, and your sense of self becomes what other people think you should be.
• Regularly reviewing your worldview: look for knowledge gaps that lead to assumptions that may not actually support your worldview.
• Develop the ability to accept when you are wrong, and to identify ways to correct your worldview in that case. It is highly unlikely that you have found the ultimate worldview, which means that there are errors in your worldview. You must be flexible enough in your thinking to accept these.
• Writing Is Thinking, and putting down your core identity ideas down on paper may be the most useful thing you can do to avoid this.
